Sails should be fully cleaned at the start of the event and stickers applied to all sails that may be used at the event on the first day, not just as and when a sailor chooses to use them, as there may not be time to affix branding at that point. Rental Cars
FROM SANTIAGO DE CHILE TO MATANZAS 157 KMS. You can rent a car from the airport through the usual outlets. You can arrange paid transfers via the Hotel Surazo: RESERVAS@SURAZO.CL.

Option: ‘CHILEAN RENT A CAR’
e-mail: info@chileanrentacar.cl
HQ Phone: +56 2 2963 8760
Airport telephone: +56 9 7398 4933

NOTE: Sharing a rental car with your friends keeps the cost reasonable. We strongly suggest you rent a 4WD of some kind to be able to access the soft sands of Topocalma for free sailing and for the possibility that we can run there on forecast. It is a 45 minute drive from Matanzas to Topocalma along dirt and gravel country roads. That road can be travelled in a normal car. However, the final stretch to reach the potential competition site is soft sand and is ONLY accessible with a good 4WD.

Another option is that you contact to your sponsor and ask the Chile distributor to help with transport – especially if you want to come earlier.

Storage and Facilities
Secure storage will be provided on site for competitors equipment from 1 days prior to the event and for 1 night after.

Weather Conditions
Generally this time of year we see great left hand riding conditions, in fast, steep, head to mast high waves. Winds can range from light to strong, so be prepared. The water is cold and requires winter style wetsuit protection.

Equipment
There are no equipment limits across The Wave Tour.

Equipment Brands must be paid-up PWA members to compete in World Cup events:
A list of PWA IWT registered industry member brands here: INDUSTRY MEMBERS . If you have home made or a small producer custom gear, please contact us at the IWT to discuss options.

Sail Numbers
All sailors will be required to carry clearly legible sail numbers. Sailors without suitable sail numbers may not be permitted to compete. This is to help identify sailors during the heats AND to help AI technology instantly identify riders in large albums of photos – this greatly improves the ability of agencies to promote all riders.

Please note: CHILE will be the first event where the IWT are asking all riders, across all divisions, to have sail numbers for more efficient identification on the water and in media.

We will NOT enforce this first event request with any penalties for non-compliance in CHILE. However, please note that this is now the direction for all 4-5 star World Cup events and will be enforced for all World Cup events after Chile = Peru, Fiji, Hawai’i. Thank you.

Sailors should be aware that they will be promoting the sport under public scrutiny. Any sail numbers, branding or other publicly viewable items or equipment, considered to be detrimental to the sport, the event, or the Wave Tour shall not be allowed. Suitability of such items shall be at the discretion of the Wave Tour. Let’s make sure it looks good for the crowd and media.

Windsurfing = surfing with more power, more speed

When the wind is up, and we can't surf clean waves, we windsurf. At it's best windsurfing offers more speed than we get as surfers, more airtime, more power, because the wind offers us extra energy to ride harder and faster. Harnessing the elements.
