Wavesailing Conditions: Starboard Tack – board shorts and a rash vest
Description: Ho’okipa and the wider Maui north shore is the heartland of the IWT and the undisputed global mecca of windsurfing. If you like wavesailing, you will LOVE Maui. The Aloha Classic is positioned in the calendar to capture big waves and perfect trade winds. You’ve seen the videos. This event attracts the highest number of competitors of any event across the tour. The standard of competition here is higher than every other event. This is the toughest wavesailing event in the world. The action is spectacular. There is no accommodation at Ho’okipa Beach Park because it is a designated park and is surrounded by old cane fields. The nearest town is Paia 5-10 minutes to the west and then a little further away is Haiku, 10-15 minutes to the east. Most competitors choose to stay in one of these nearby areas. Accommodation options range from backpacker shared rooms in Paia all the way up to super luxury huge house rentals that open onto private, pristine north shore beaches nearby – contact Sam Bittner Wilson for help finding accommodation to suit your needs: email@example.com. Competitors will need a car or shared ride. Most traveling to Maui for the event will rent a car for transport to and from their accommodation and the Ho’okipa event site. The IWT recommends Maui North Shore Car Rental.
