For the first time at the 2025 Gran Canaria Gloria Windsurf World Cup, the next generation of sailors took to the water to battle it out during the afternoon. The morning had started slightly overcast and not particularly windy, but once the clouds burnt away the wind quickly returned to allow the U13 Boy’s and U15 Boy’s and Girl’s to hit the water for the first time this week with the wind dropping back to a more manageable level, while there were still a few waves around…
Wave – Youth’s
U15 Girl’s
Trine Gobisch (Duotone Windsurfing) won both of the opening finals in the Girl’s U15 fleet as she twice managed to defeat Japan’s Fumi Akita (Goya Windsurfing / Severne Sails) with a combination of forward loops and tabletops proving more than enough in the air, while Gobisch’s wave riding was also a cut above.
U15 Boy’s
The semifinals of the Boy’s U15 division were also completed, but unfortunately the condition deteriorated before we were able to run the Single Elimination Final, so that will have to wait for another day to see the conclusion.
In the opening semifinal, Elías Antolín (Duotone Windsurfing) stole the show as he landed an excellent forward loop, while also showing variety in his riding to book the first qualifying spot into the final. Anton Gobisch (Duotone Windsurfing) secured the other spot in the final as he edged out Daniel Dunkerbeck (Starboard / Severne Sails).
In the second semifinal, Yannik Golb Gonzalez (Simmer / Simmer Sails) produced a confident display to navigate his way into the final, while Koa Fabbio-Blanch (Naish) clinched the other qualifying position thanks to his better jumping scores.
U13 Boy’s
Dennis Kolb Gonzalez claimed a clearcut victory over his brother Eric Kolb Gonzalez and Robby Swift’s (JP / NeilPryde) son Rocco in the opening final, but the second final proved to be much closer with just two points separating Dennis and Eric. In the end though, it was still Dennis who prevailed as he takes a 2-0-0 lead in the U13 Boy’s division.
The forecast for Wednesday is very similar as today in terms of the wind, but the swell is expected to drop slightly to 0.8m from 1.1m. All fleets, but the Master’s who have been given another lay day, will meet again at 10:30am (GMT+1) for the skippers’ meeting with the action commencing from 11am onwards.
