IWT Travel
Your key to the world’s best waves and wave-riders.

It’s now easier than ever to join the tour with IWT Travel to show you the way. For all the WINDSURFERS who have dreamed of traveling to the exceptional waves of the IWT but thought it was too hard, too expensive or just too crazy, the IWT now has a solution for you. Many of the events are in remote locations and the best way to arrange travel is to first read the IWT Travel pages for each event and use the contact details provided to line things up with the local event organizers who are all very helpful. These are fully up to date and contain all the information you’ll need to to make travel plans easily and cost effectively. If you have never travelled to an IWT event before, then allow us to give a run down of how it all works.

Pro/Am Format
The Pro Men and Pro Women are competing on the tour for the IWT overall championship titles These are coveted wave-riding titles. Past tour winners have dominated the world’s most famous wave riding event The Aloha Classic (Camille Juban, Sarah Hauser, Morgan Noireaux, Boujmaa Guilloul, Kevin Pritchard, Levi Siver, and the list goes on). This is where people come to prove their mettle as the greatest down the line wave riders on planet earth. If conditions at any of the events are extreme the IWT will send out the Pros and top riders.

The IWT will generally run heats for Amateur divisions in more moderate conditions. We’re not always looking for extreme for everyone, but we are sure that everyone would love to ride the world’s great waves in the IWT locations at least once in their life! The IWT wants all riders, of all levels, to have a great time in the waves and on these adventures with the IWT family.

All the action will be captured by our world class photographers and Videographers. The world renowned, Duncan Coombs will be the IWT Head Judge. His team of judges will include some of the most experienced judges in the wave riding world.

Comp Time
The IWT uses a long format elimination structure called a ‘dingle’ to give everyone more chances to strut their stuff and have second chances in their heats. This ensures more fun and also that the best riders get through the heats and that the structure offers maximum fairness for all riders. IWT competitor numbers have been growing in both Pro and Am divisions, especially the Pro Women, Am Women’s and Youth divisions, so it now takes 2-3 days to run the full competition format. That’s why, this year, all event windows are 7 days minimum and two of our events (Chile and Maui) are 14 day windows to get the absolute best conditions in those wild and wonderful places.

Clinics
There will be clinics offering advice from some of the top riders on tour during the non competition days. Video and photography is available to support those who want top level guidance in the clinics. You choose how much you’d like to spend, one hour with a pro on the water exclusive, in a small group, add a top level Videographer, you choose, and have fun with the learning process. The IWT will arrange these things for you so ask us for what you’d like and then you deal directly with the Pro Riders and the image catchers.
