Maui, Hawaii/USA (Tuesday, December 17, 2019) – Today, the International Windsurfing Tour (IWT) announced they have verified data, from their social media partner Facebook, that IWT Wave Riders had over 20 million views in 2019 across the IWT Facebook and IWT Instagram platforms alone.

We’re delighted with the increased coverage the IWT has brought to the sport of windsurfing and the IWT Wave Riders in particular during 2019, and we have only just begun,” said IWT Director Simeon Glasson. “Our athletes continue to take the sport to new performance levels, and the images from our world class media team means more people than ever can now witness the intensity and the adventure of windsurfing with all the excitement of these extraordinary events at the most hard-core wave riding locations in the world.

The IWT celebrates the best of the best with ’the right stuff’, and all the rungs on the ladder to climb to the top. We continue to be very proud of this clear pathway from entry level all the way up to the most elite Pro Men and Pro Women on earth.

The second wave of IWT media initiatives comes in the form of the upcoming IWT Movie, which follows the tour champions across 2019. It will launch with a series of World Premiers in late January 2020, and is expected to generate more strong media exposure for the sport worldwide with a celebration of the greatest wave riders on earth and their remarkable achievements. The Movie is being directed by Jace Panebianco of Poorboyz Productions, with contributing imagery from many of the worlds best wave riding content creators, and is expected to excite millions more people to watch the IWT wave riders in 2020.

The 2020 IWT wave tour begins on Wednesday March 4 in Japan with the Omaezaki Japan Cup.
